Tomorrow is an exhibition hosted at Victoria & Albert Museum by Elmgreen & Dragset,
October 1,2013-January 2, 2014 presented in partnership with AlixPatners.
This exhibition is not about paintings, sculptures or illustrations but stands as an interactive space.
More specifically, the exhibition is the real life representation of a house which derives from the
unrealized film Tomorrow by Elmgreen & Dragset. From the moment that the visitor enters the exhibit
he/she becomes part of the narration and plays the role of an uninvited guest in the protagonist’s home.Furthermore with the visitor's entry to the exhibit he/she is offered a booklet of the actual script in order to get more immediate with the existing space and relate each act with the additional area (living room, kitchen, bedroom, working space). Some would wonder how people get to interact with this masterpiece. The interaction of the people in this space is their ability to search for clues of the events that occurred in the script but also be an actual guest by sitting in the living room, read books from the library, play the piano or have a look of the protagonists medication which are all part of the script.
Despite the fact that the script is unrealized and as a result of non great importance, during your time in the exhibition you get the impression that you are reliving a true story and that you are actually a part of it which is an element that makes this whole process of investigation really interesting and on going.Considering my experience, I was there for 3 hours ,read the whole script, and analyzed every aspect of the house without getting any bored but rather excited about the originality of the exhibition.Without any question, I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in clever and new ideas in the world of arts to visit this unique spectacle.
